1898 U.S. forces moved into Manila, ending a three month blockade of the bay.
1959 Japan agreed to repatriate willing Koreans to North Korea.
1969 Hundreds of Soviet and Chinese troops fought a deadly border skirmish in Xinjiang. Dozens were killed.
